Problems America Faces
In
the United States it is estimated that 299 million scrap tires are
produced annually. There are approximately 188 million scrap tires
stockpiled in illegal tire dumps. Seven states contain 85 percent of
these tires. Colorado
is one of those seven. These figures are based on a study that the
rubber manufacturer's association published in November of 2006. You can

Problems Colorado Faces
Colorado currently ranks on the lower end among 50 states as far as recycling. It is plausible that with the help of concerned organizations, along with support from the business and private sectors there can be real progress made with regards to recycling. It is especially important that interest is shown in the tire recycling industry, as it is one of the newest and most fragile markets being developed today.

Involvement In Local Approval
When
we opened our doors in 1991 only 30 percent of our tires were recycled.
Our mission was to establish a facility that would be able to recycle
100 percent. With all of the services now offered we are proud to say
that Snowy River Enterprises is a
complete recycling center. Through the years we have been involved in
legislation that produced an end use program for all tire recyclers. We
pushed for approvals to use recycled tires in numerous applications.
These applications have been approved, and are as follows;- Civil Engineering
- Daily cover
- Lightweight Fill
- Leachate Collection Systems
- Landscape Material
The Future
It is in the best interest of all people today to be concerned with taking care of our planet. Here in Colorado we are fortunate enough to have the majestic rocky mountains in our back yard. By preserving the environment around us we can provide a brighter future for our children.
Leading the way by example is a necessity. Every step we take towards nation wide recognition of recycling standards and policies helps those to come follow in our footsteps. We can do this by taking care of our ecological home now. If we all do our part, we work towards correcting the mistakes we have made as a throw-it-away society. Help Snowy River Enterprises get rid of your tires, as well as your preconceived ideas that recycling is just a waste of time.
